Team Hillsboro-ish - Deidre Hanger & Amanda Overmeyer
Deidre Hanger
Deidre grew up in Hillsboro (Kortkamp) and spent most of her life there before settling in Taylor Springs, hence the “-ish” in Team Hillsboro-ish. She has worked at Constitution Bank for over 20 years and is currently returning to school to earn her accounting degree. Deidre is a proud mom to Callen and Cashlyn and a Maine Coon kitten named Olive.
Cancer has touched Deidre’s life in many ways. During her time at Constitution Bank, she has lost two coworkers to cancer. Her father has battled skin cancer, and she also lost her grandmother to bladder cancer. These experiences are what led her to support this fundraiser. In her free time, Deidre enjoys traveling, spending time with her nieces, and watching football.
Amanda Overmeyer
Amanda was raised in Coffeen and spent over 15 years living in Hillsboro before recently moving to Williamsville, making her Hillsboro “-ish” as well. She lives there with her husband, Mike, and their kids Kayla, Quinn, Maddie, and Elsa, along with dogs Luna and Bear, and Willow the cat. Amanda is a nursing professor at Illinois State University, a substitute school nurse for Springfield School District #186, and is currently working on her DNP at ISU.
Cancer is personal for Amanda. She lost her Aunt Charleen to pancreatic cancer, and both her mother-in-law and father-in-law are cancer survivors. Supporting this fundraiser is important to her for both personal and professional reasons. Outside of work, Amanda enjoys traveling with her family, reading, and going to concerts, especially if Taylor Swift is involved.
Team Hillsboro-ish is proud to support this fundraiser alongside friends, family, and a community that continues to matter to us—no matter where we call home now. #YouBelongWithSOC
Team Hyam Helgen Hustlers - Colleen Helgen & Meghan Hyam
We are Colleen and Meghan, two friends with deep roots — and even deeper love — for the Litchfield community. Though we both moved here later in life, our husbands’ families have been part of Litchfield for generations, and this town now truly feels like home.
Colleen is a compassionate veterinarian, wife to Eric, and mother to three daughters — Caroline, Catherine, and Maggie. Meghan serves the community as the Administrator at Litchfield Family Practice Center. She is married to Erik and is the proud mom of two boys, Bennett and Fletcher.
Between raising kids, cheering at games and dance events, staying involved at Zion Lutheran Church and School, and squeezing in our shared love of travel, Disney, and wine, life is full — and we are grateful.
Cancer has touched our lives and the lives of people we cherish. By participating in Stamp Out Cancer, we hope to support local families, honor fighters and survivors, and help bring hope where it’s needed most.
Rally With O'Malley - Gia & Charlie O'Malley
We are Charlie and Gia O’Malley and are excited to begin this adventure. We were both born and raised in Nokomis and have lived there for most of our lives. Charlie is the director of St. Francis Catholic Services Corporation managing the buildings and property of the old Hospital Sisters of St. Francis Motherhouse in Springfield. Gia is a Junior High reading teacher in the Nokomis School District and has been employed there for 28 years. We have two daughters, Ally and Abby. We have personally been affected by cancer, making this journey that much more rewarding. Gia had thyroid cancer in 2014 and underwent a thyroidectomy and radioactive iodine. We also have many family and friends who have fought this horrible disease. We have seen firsthand the Montgomery County Cancer Association step in and help these individuals and families who are enduring this difficult journey. Rally with O’Malley has assembled a fantastic team of volunteers that is passionate about planning and organizing events to support this cause but also providing fun events for our community to enjoy. We would like to thank the community in advance for the support we know that happens with living in a small town. Please RALLY WITH O’MALLEY to help fight cancer and help those in need!
